Art Show

2009 Art Show
The Art Show held in July 2009 was a very successful event, despite the economy.  The gross sales, including donations, was a $ 49,000.  We had 82 artists entered from all over the country and 68% of them sold artwork.  Considering that Cuchara is not really close to any major town and our show is open for 17 hours during the 3 day period, that is a lot of excitement!  Over 850 people attented from 22 states and 3 foreign countries

About the Art Show
To the art show lover – the show is held in the Cuchara Recreation Hall in the middle of the valley. 
A sign will be posted.  Right now we take cash and check and credit cards.  There is no admission.  Come and go or come and stay.  You can purchase art of the spot and take it or pick it  up later.  The procedure is to take the white card off the painting and a clerk will write a ticket up for you.  You can leave the painting hanging until you are ready for it.  Besides the hanging art, we also feature pottery, jewelry, and other surprise items.  We look forward to seeing you there!

To the artist
The Art Show is by invitation only.  New artists must contact the director and submit examples of their work by photo or email, to be accepted.  Once accepted, the invitation letters will be mailed in February stating the current guidelines.  There is no admission fee for the artist or the patrons.  There is a 25% commission charged by Hermosa to the artist.  This will be deducted from the check mailed to the artist.  Our checks are usually mailed out within three weeks of the end of the show.
This is a fine arts show, not a craft show.

Art work must be properly framed with wire hangers.  No packing material is to be left at the center.  Not all paintings will be out during the entire show;  the show is changed nightly.  Artist works will not be hung together.
