About Us
Cuchara Hermosa, meaning beautiful, was established in 1964.
Purpose
Our purpose is to work toward the beautification of Cuchara Valley and improve
the quality of life for its residents.
History
Cuchara Hermosa originated when nine ladies met on September 4, 1964, at the home of Margaret Bradley and discussed how to help beautify the valley.
Dues were assessed at $2.00 a year.
Throughout the years, Hermosa has donated money to many worthwhile projects and organizations, including Quick Response Team, the La Veta Library, the children’s playground, the tennis courts, and maintaining the beauty of our roads and parkways.
The main fund raiser for the organization is the annual Art Show, held at the Community Recreation Hall in July. The vision came from Bill Williams, the first director of the show in 1965. At that time, it was called The Flower and Art Festival and featured floral arrangements and paintings.
The Cuchara Hermosa organization is open to anyone who loves Cuchara Valley and wants to be involved helping to maintain its beauty. The dues are $20.00 a year.
