About Us
Cuchara Hermosa, meaning beautiful, was established in 1964.
Purpose
Our purpose is to work toward the beautification of Cuchara Valley and improve
the quality of life for its residents.
History
Cuchara Hermosa originated when nine
ladies met on September 4, 1964, at
the home of Margaret Bradley and
discussed how to help beautify
the valley.
Dues were assessed at $2.00 a year.
Throughout the years, Hermosa has
donated money to many worthwhile
projects and organizations, including
Quick Response Team, the La Veta
Library, the children’s playground,
the tennis courts, and maintaining
the beauty of our roads and parkways.
One of the main fund raisers for the
organization is the annual Art Show,
held at the Cuchara Community Center
each July. The vision came from
Margaret Bradley with Bill Williams
being the first Art Show Director in
1965. At the time it was called the
‘Flower and Art Festival’ and
featured floral arrangements and paintings.
The Cuchara Hermosa organization
is open to anyone who loves Cuchara
Valley and wants to be involved
helping to maintain its beauty.
The dues are $20.00 a year.
